"We're gonna take you back... Way Back!" Wooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Crusin' Way Back

Mestizo.... was formed as a labor of love to bring back the Latin Rock sound & feel of San Francisco in the 70's. If you were in Jr.High School or High School at the time, you can't help but remember listening to these tunes at house parties, on the streets, or at local dances.

Mestizo..... was originally formed in a garage more than 25 years ago by 6 teenagers attending James Denman Jr.High, and Balboa High School...using the name "Race" as a metaphor for their ethnic diversity. From those beginnings the band evolved in several incarnations, ultimately into "Sapphire" which lasted until the birth of Disco in the late 70's which all but caused the demise of "live" music. It was the end of an era, and the end of the musical careers of several of the bands members.

Now.....after more than a 20 year hiatus, "That Sound" is Back!! using original & new members, "Mestizo" is bringing back the "Live" Classic Latin Rock Sound". Featuring a 13 piece band (orchestra?), you can't help but get up and dance the Calypso, Cha-Cha, or Salsa!! (or whatever you can remember moving to back then!)

Mestizo.....(which is slang for blend) emanating from San Francisco's South of Market District, is fortunate to have a talented staff of musicians who grew-up and or appreciate that era, and were more than happy to have the chance to revive it.

In this age of "retro"... nothing could be more fitting.
