| An East Bay native, Paul began his professional music career
at twelve in the 1960s and actually found himself involved with the
SF area Latin-rock group Sapo during their formative years in the early
70s. From there, and continuing on for several years, Paul was one of the
original "poodle dog" pit band in the hit musical revue Beach
Blanket Babylon during its present run at Club Fugazi (now well into its third
decade). Paul played the lead trumpet book in UC Berkeley's top
Wednesday Band throughout his college career and had the privilege of backing up a number
of jazz greats including Sonny Rollins, Freddie Hubbard, Jon Hendricks, John Handy,
Warren Gale, Hubert Laws, and George Duke while at Cal. More recently,
Paul has worked with a number of local groups such as the Julio Bravo, GTS Band, Hear
and Now, Contra Costa College Big Band, Latin Soul Project, and Richmonds
own Junius Courtney Big Band, and has worked with Barbara Morrison, Brenda
Boykin, Denise Perrier, Clairedee, and John Santos. Paul's day job as an
electrical engineer has taken him (literally) around the world.
