| JAVIER CLAUDIO Was born and raised in New York City in "The
Bronx.". During the time he was growing up when he was about 8 or 9, He used to play
music with his cousins, singing and dancing. They used to play for the neighborhood kids
for pennies, and play at his Uncles night club, ( even though they were underage) and
eventually as he grew older Javier began singing as a regular at the club. He continued
playing and singing with friends and other musicians for a period of time playing the rich
puerto rican music of his culture. Before he left New York City, he got involved
in the music behind live fashion shows and eventually even took a try at modeling
himself, but that didn't last.
He moved to San Francisco in the early
80's on his own and without any of his previous musical companions. Not being able to find
any new musicians at the time to jam with, He continued his interest in the theatrical
arena and took some local acting classes as to try to network and pursue his musical
desire. While seeking his way, he was able to secure a few acting jobs in commercials, a
few features, and yes even a few modeling jobs, but this was not enough to fulfill his
musical roots.
While continuing to take classes and
realizing that he had been here in the bay area for a while with no musical fires burning,
he heard from a couple of friends about a couple of guys who were starting up a band. He
made a phone call and soon he was singing everything from "The Stones" to
Creedence Clearwater, to the Eagles and eventually Santanna tunes. They gigged quite a bit
for a few years, however some of the original members left the project and Javiers heart
was no longer there as he had built a comradery with them. He left the band and continued
to sing freelance here and there as a guest artist with a few bands in the bay area and
even with friends at Karaoke' bars to keep his chops up.
Once again he received a call from a
former bandmate who had heard about a band that was starting up with some previous members
and was going to specialize in "Classic Latin Rock". The project was jokingly
called "Whenever" as they really didn't know when they would rehearse and or
gig. Soon the project grew and evolved and eventually became "Mestizo" and ever
since then he's been to continue to sing and perform. He hopes that he can continue to do
this in public as long as they'll let him. "Like I always said: Let the Music move
your Soul"!!!! he says. |
