Steve Schaaf started playing Bass at age 13. He is a self taught musician who was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up listening to the music being played by Santana, Malo and the other Latin bands from back in the 70's. This along with jamming constantly with friends and relatives inspired him to enroll as a music major at City College of San Francisco. He has played in numerous bands throughout the years rangeing from Latin to Top 40, to Disco, Funk and Soul. He is also the proud owner of Mestizo's own "Pacific Breeze Studio's" where the band is going to record their next CD. He enjoys writing original music for Mestizo and also the owner of a autobody shop in San Francisco's South of Market Area.
